Haus Raum

We were commissioned to design an extension for an old historic carriage house in the Berlin area. Originally, the layout of the coach house was similar to that of a small house with many small rooms and a second floor.
By removing the core of the coach house, we created a large space with a high pent roof that can be used as a living room as well as a kitchen area. The planned extension continues the coach house in the form of an “L” and thus closes the view from neighbouring rooms. At the same time, the resulting interior sapce creates a large terrace.
Due to its homogeneous color and the different material, it is complementary to the existing brick building and gives the en- semble a modern look. At the same time, the extension creates space for a bedroom and children’s room and clearly separates the family area from the communal areas.
