Elements of the community

This year we looked at the elements of community - a spatial examination of the notion of togetherness and the dialectical relationship between the individual and the community. The workshop was used to examine and ex- periment with the immanent core elements of architecture and the city - its residents. The group explored rituals and dynamics of communities and the space they create and use. The challenge for the group during the work- shop was not only to examine and interact with the community and residents, but also to use the group itself as a test environment for experiments and observations to get a feeling for what the community and the individual in it matter. Various rituals were researched and observed and activities of the local community were also involved. The workshop oscillated between personal engagement, spatial experiments and interventions, group experiences and larger community events. This resulted in some very nice projects that we documented individually.
