MEKADO operates in the field of architecture and urbanism and also devotes itself to topics related to society and art. We formulate creative spatial concepts in the areas of design, interior, architecture, urban planning, with a strong focus on social, technological and ecological integration. We stand for the entire process of spatial development, starting with interdisciplinary strategies, followed by an integral design all the way to implementation.

Design Philosophy

MEKADO pursues a fascination for radical, spatial investigations focusing on the urban and rural landscapes, the in-between and the influence from multicultural exchange, global socio-economical and ecological drivers as well as new technologies. All together require new ways of architectural and urban organisation to develop a progressive urban future.

We are interested in areas beyond architecture that today have an increasing influence on the urban world and its inhabitants and users: technologies, science, ecology, renewable energies, politics, social dynamics and organisation, subcultures, music, art, media, fashion.

The solutions of our design are both functional and emotional. Our intention is to develop interdisciplinary and experimental concepts to create authentic spaces, which are often playful and visionary. Our ideas emerge out of a careful analysis and observation of how contemporary life evolves and changes around us.

Our design process is deeply collaborative for all scales of projects ranging from objects to urban development visions. We are rooted in the creative culture and operate as a network of specialists to collaborate intensively with clients and stakeholders.

We aim to drive spatial innovation in the fields of architecture, urbanism and landscape design, with a strong focus on social and environmental integration. In creating a well-designed product, building or urban environment, there is an inherent value added to a long-term investment for the future.

MEKADO believes in the creative process, which takes inspiration from many sources. This process is shaped and informed by explorations into the spatial and cultural context, statistical data, socio-economic drivers and critical analysis of current urban issues and constraints. As such, the design will undergo a refinement process informing and inspiring the development of future planning scenarios.
